Invasion (electrofine.com)
This piece of music was written especially for a progressive
rock internet radio station, "Radio Free Kansas" (RFK). RFK
host, Steve Taaffe, named it as the station's signature theme.
It was titled "RFK" but then was renamed "Invasion", when it was
edited down to a little over 4 minutes from the original 10
minutes. Invasion is available only at Electrofine.com.

1. Blue Planet (Spiral Journey)
Classic electronic music with a moderate, subtle beat. Mysterious,
but soothing chords augment beautiful variations of a violin-like
instrument. It is written in progressing movements towards a climatic
end. "Blue Planet" represents the Earth in its evolutionary growth
and renewal.
Yielding chords combine in three harmonious phrases which are repeated
and bridged together through the sound of a concert flute. Composed
in an ambient mood, the intent is for inward reflection and letting go.
Simple musical structures of flute and acoustic guitar blend together
with a backdrop of delicate chords. This presents a feeling of
innocence inspired by tranquil atmospheres of nature.
A short ambient piece inspired by star gazing on warm summer nights.
Deep, slow chords move softly like waves, flowing in and out with the
ambiance of dreams and celestial events.
Inspired by the comet in the Spring of 1997. Electronic space music
with a bit of classical influence, it captures the feeling of
Hale-Bopps intense speed and temporary stay as it appeared to be
standing still in the night skies.
The title track is representative of classic electronic space music.
The piece slowly builds from a spinning nebula of sound and then grows
to a powerful gravitating ending with heavy drums. Inspired by the
realization that we all are on a cyclic journey to somewhere or
someplace. We spin on the Earth, around the Sun, around the Milky Way,
and through the cycle of life and death.
Progressive rhythms and dreamy chords create an aura of positive
energy like a warm spring day. Rolling, syncopated drums and high
energy leads brings climax to the first section. As the drums
conclude, the mood transforms to one of celebration. The final
segment evolves into a darker, ominous feel which represents the
uncertainty of the approach of an early summer storm.
Heavy, tribal drumming begins this eclectic track with a feeling of
youth and resourcefulness. As the song evolves, it mellows and
branches into a middle section of melodic segments and chords. For
the finale, the mood returns to the beginning with the feel of gained
wisdom that every path starts and ends in the same place, the heart.
A positive, powerful song with a backbone of progressive rock drumming
that features an outstanding lead guitar by Matt DePasqua. This is
the most articulated song on the album. It employs modern
instrumentation and expansive writing. We are crossing the line into
the new millennia. Electric and acoustic guitars were composed and
performed by Matt DePasqua.
Heavy, lush chords accompany a bright lead that ignite the beginning
of the track with expressive power. The mood calms at the end, as it
winds up and closes out the album. This song captures the feeling of
finality, hope, and happiness, as one millennia ends and a new one begins.
1. Underground Passage (Twilight Dreams)
Inspired from cave exploration. A quiet journey starts with an
enticing feeling for exploring underground into mystery and discovery.
The track begins with a beautiful theme that unfolds into very
peaceful and melodic movements.
A journey of continuous change. Dynamically, it starts off with
heavy chords and lively drumming. Transforming through rhythmic
and non-rhythmic moods, the song builds toward its final destination.
Follows a sustaining drum beat that was inspired by the pow-wow dances
of the American Indians. It represents an agreement of having
respect and care for our earth mother. Drum rhythms and
combinational themes emerge together to a place where the heart is.
Represents the insistent modernization in our world. A rock/fusion
beat with strong bass and rhythmic organ build the foundation of this
very energetic song.
Recalls the progressive rock music of the early 1970's. A great
combination of synths, drums and streaming electric guitar holds many
surprises. The lead guitar featured on this track and was composed and
performed by Matt DePasqua.
Luna Lake is comprised of three parts. An atmosphere of peace and
solitude emerges through "Nightfall" as waves of lush chords and night
sounds paint the scene. Joined by the sound of river rapids, the
mood is heightened as a mysterious night in "North Woods" is created
through dark and ominous electronic sound textures. Entering
through a twilight wind, "White Deer" is the final scene. Soft
layered voices, sustained into spacious chords, create the feelings of
serenity and well being.
